CHAPTER II: SELF UNDERSTANDING

Chemotherapy heals and kills our bodies. Impossible to move. Impossible to talk. You are a prisoner, trapped in your body and your mind. Solitude is when the silence starts to grow. In that solitude, all I can hear are my own thoughts. In this moment, I was facing myself without any escape. To understand the self is to face one’s true self without any filters. Awareness is felt within the mindless silence. Solitude is no vacuum. The solitude chemotherapy plugs you in, faces you with an infinite silence. My cancer took me at the core of my solitude. My cancer opened up the door to liberated me, and regardless of, thanks to the immobility it imposed on me, took me to surf the cosmic waves. My cancer is not my enemy. Becoming your own observer is to understand the complexity of your own mind.
